This editorial is lovely- have a look at the other pictures and see if they don’t make you smile and wish it was summer already. She can do no wrong in my eyes!

FHM Phillipines cover accused of racism →
Watch the BBC interview with FHM’s cover girl here.
Some of the models were painted black and the photo was captioned ‘Stepping out of the Shadows’. I understand that they didn’t necessarily mean to offend anyone and the concept behind the picture actually makes sense but it is a little insensitive. It doesn’t matter that they didn’t have bad intentions....

Diversity Loving: Second AFRICA-THEMED Vogue issue...
Since Vogue’s Franca Sozzani recently evealed that she is working on another Africa-themed issue for the spring, it got me thinking, why can’t we make this a regular ‘thing’? Either way, I’m excited! Sozzani insisted that the issue will be about more than just fashion, saying:
“It will be about the presidents, it will be about the people. But in a very positive way. I...

When it came to patriotism, no American citizen was as determined to scream his allegiance to the States as much as Eddy. Originally from Nigeria, he had come to the USA, a wide-eyed, overzealous foreign student; a sponge, willing to soak up everything about the much disseminated and celebrated American culture. It didn’t take long before he dropped...

Malawi's Hidden Culture of Violence and Female... →
It is the immorality attached to our bodies and the strict boundaries placed on our freedom of expression that remind us that, although we’re dotted around the world, we’re essentially riding on the same train, headed for the same destination.

Black Women- How Relevant Are We?
To put it quite simply… women of color are the most marginalized group in society.
Why? Because sexism often means that our value is based on how beautiful we are rather than how smart or competent we are (and our skills in the kitchen too, I suppose, but mainly beauty). You only need to look at how much discussion goes on about Michelle Obama’s wardrobe and hair as opposed to her...

The very visable reminder that to be black or brown in America is travesty. It is unwanted. Unless you are shaking your booty or selling Pine Sol. It is sickening and I am tired. My sisters are tired. We’ve got queens feeling ugly because their skin isn’t some shade of beige. There are white mother’s raising their biracial babies without imparting that the black is beautiful. Black...

Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab aka the Nigerian Panty...
My first question is ‘who are the real victims here’ and of course, your answer will depend on perspective. I feel DEEPLY sorry for Abdulmuttallab’s family and his would-be victims but I also feel sorry for him- not because he’ll spend the rest of his life in a prison cell but because of the steps he took to hurt people he didn’t know. That’s messed up because...
