Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab aka the Nigerian Panty Bomber

My first question is ‘who are the real victims here’ and of course, your answer will depend on perspective. I feel DEEPLY sorry for Abdulmuttallab’s family and his would-be victims but I also feel sorry for him- not because he’ll spend the rest of his life in a prison cell but because of the steps he took to hurt people he didn’t know. That’s messed up because there must be something SO WRONG with the way you see yourself in the world before you take that route. If you’ve read past posts then you’ll know how I feel about this ‘them’ and ‘us’ ideology which takes place in literally every aspect of human life- male/female, old/young, black/white, straight/gay all of it. As long as ‘sameness’ and ‘difference’ are tools used to define ourselves and others, ‘extremism’ will always be a step away.

Of course I could be talking absolute rubbish right now (I’m one of those people that has to constantly ask myself if I’m making any sense)- whatever, it’s way too early and I need my caffeine fix. TGIF and all that.
